Combined Heat Power
Combined Heat and Power (CHP) is the simultaneous generation of usable heat and power (usually electricity) in a single process. Because CHP systems make extensive use of the heat produced during the electricity generation process, they can achieve overall efficiencies in excess of 70% at the point of use. In contrast, the efficiency of conventional coal-fired and gas-fired power stations, which discard this heat, is typically around 38% and 48% respectively, with a further drop in efficiency in getting this to the end user. Total Environmental are pleased to discuss the suitability and application of CHP technology for industrial, commercial or large domestic environments.
Rainwater Harvesting
The requirement for Rainwater Harvesting is now widely expected within larger new
build commercial buildings. The rainwater is used for toilet flushing, washdowns,
irrigation, some process applications and vehicle washing.
Payback can be less than
3 years on new build projects.
Hydro Power
On completion of a detailed feasibility study, layout drawings and development consents, we are able to install and commission new hydropower equipment appropriate to the available resource and site requirements.
Other Renewables
Greywater Recycling
Similar in principle to rainwater harvesting, but utilising waste water from baths, basins and washing machines etc. which is collected, stored and used for irrigation and washdown purposes.
Roof mounted panels which uitiise radiated heat from the sun to heat water for domestic purposes and low grade heating. In UK, generally only suitable as accessory to main heating system.
