Enhanced Capital Allowance Scheme (ECAs)

These enable a business to claim 100% first-year capital tax allowances on their spending on qualifying plant and machinery. The ECA schemes include: energy-saving plant and machinery; water conservation plant and machinery

Businesses can  offset corporation tax against the capital cost of their investment in these technologies in the period during which they make the investment. This can deliver a helpful cash flow boost and a shortened payback period.

Feed In Tariffs

Details announced in February 2010 for feed-in tariffs are given below.  These only apply to installations completed and commissioned by 12 December 2011.

These tariffs are credited against your electricity bill for each kWh (kilowatt-hour) generated.  Any surplus power generated which is ‘sold back’ to the National Grid will be paid for at the rate of £0.03 per kWh.

These tariffs are guaranteed for at least 20 years (25 years for solar PV installations).

Tariffs commenced in April 2010 and were subject to an inflation uplift of 4.8% from 1 April 2011.

To be eligible for Feed In Tariff an MCS Installer and MCS certified products must be used.  All our UK manufactured pv solar panels are MCS approved.  We are MCS approved Installers.

Significant changes have been announced that will apply to ALL INSTALLATIONS COMPLETED AFTER 2 MARCH 2012.  THE FEED IN TARIFF WILL REDUCE FROM 43.3P TO 21P PER KWH FOR INSTALLATIONS LESS THAN 4KW.

Renewable Heat Incentive

What is the Renewable Heat Incentive?

It is a payment for generating heat from renewable sources. Like the Feed-In Tariffs, it is set by Government.

The RHI is administered by the official regulator Ofgem who pay the tariffs with money from the Treasury.

How much is the Renewable Heat Incentive worth to participants?

First of all you will save money by eliminating or reducing your need for gas or oil, both of which are becoming increasingly expensive year-on-year.

Secondly, you will be paid up to 8.5p/kWhr for the hot water and heat you generate and use yourself. It depends on exactly what systems you use and how large they are as to what the exact tariff level is. They are paid for 20 years from the registration date and index-linked for inflation

Contrary to belief Heat Pumps ARE still in the running for a sustainable future!!

£860 million of funding to be provided across BOTH the Commercial and Residential Renewable Heating sectors where incentives are to be implemented with a TWO PHASE approach:

PHASE 1 - to begin July 2011 - Commercial

PHASE 1 - to begin July 2011 - Residential

PHASE 2 - to begin October 2012
